My decorated sugar cookies have never looked quite as good as these, sorry Santa!
 Eeeek! so cute!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this wreath. So much color and happiness.

Beautiful Blue! (Nothing beats a Marth Stewart tree)
I can't resist ribbins and pastels

Merry Christmas :) What are your favorite holiday decorations?!

Finally, finally, finally!

Here they are -- pictures of my apartment! The interior designer in me still considers my room a work in progress, though.

I love how these pictures turned out. I used some scrapbook paper I found at Michaels and went to town! The picture in the bottom middle just a picture from one of my old calendars.

I got the idea from www.cupcakesandcashmere.com… such a cute little addition! Kudos to my Dad for cutting the boards the night before I moved into my apartment.

I love my little nook, and I'm so glad it allows me to have a window in my room!

My desk area: still a little unsatisfied with the lack of pictures/items for display on this wall, but I'll get it done!

Thank you God, for putting fresh flowers on Earth

But seriously, I don't think I could function as well without my weekly dose of fresh flowers!

Over the past few months, I've become obsessed with the Farmers Market! The one here in Charlottesville is hoppin' to say the least. Among my favorite finds at the Farmers Market, including an amazing local taco stand and unique tea/lemonade stand, are the abundance of stands that sell a variety of fresh flowers. Only the best.

Here are some that I bought at the Farmer's Market a couple weeks ago- My boyfriend came to visit (!) and said I could pick out some…I picked this wildflower looking boquet! I think the color combination is absolutely gorgeous.

Dahlias! Sadly I took this took this picture when they had started to wilt a little. They're large and in charge! The only thing is that each dahlia was $3 each at this stand, so since I had spend all of my other cash on various food items that day, I only got one yellow and one pink.

I think this arrangement was quite possibly my favorite. My phone camera pictures doesn't quite do it justice, but basically this was just one pink/red paradise of an arrangement.

These, I did not get from the Farmers Market. My boyfriend called a florist in Charlottesville and had this beautiful fall arrangement delivered to my apartment this morning! AND it's in a cornucopia…doesn't get any more autumn-like than that!

In a nut shell, fresh flowers make the world go round!

My to-do list for today:

After a stressful week filled with both an Anatomy exam and Physics exam, I couldn't be more glad that it is friday! What to doo, what to dooo…

1. Buy fresh flowers for my room. Instant happiness.

2. Work on the area above my desk. I need some sort of bulletin board or another way to stay organized!

3. Laundry (take the good with the bad)

P.S.- pictures of my apartment COMING SOON! :)

Current Ponderings

I am SOO SO SO SO excited to decorate my apartment in a week and a half; however, I'm getting overwhelming thinking about everything that I need/want for my room and bathroom. I refuse to have bare walls and no color to brighten up my days! My main thing is that I'm trying to save some money and craft most of my decorations, like pictures and whatnot.

Here's what I'm starting with:

Meet my new bedspread!

I really love how they paired the blue bedspread with this in the picture. That being said, I really want to bring out the blues when I start putting together wall decorations and for my bathroom.

I had an idea of just getting a bunch of scrapbook paper that, in some way or another, matched my bedspread. I will probably put them in cheapish frames of different sizes above my desk.
Here's the paper I got for now : reds, blues, and pinks
And here's what I'm thinking of doing once I get some frames:

I'd also like to do something with the initial of my first name in it, likeeeeee….
or...

I bought a tan shower curtain today but I just found another one on target.com that is the perfect blue that I was going for in my bathroom! I will be doing some exchanging, for sure!
I think in my bathroom I'm going to stick to all blue, including rugs and towels. I thought I'd try to find a picture of a sailboat or something to add to the nautical feel as well.

Here are a couple other random ideas I have :)

The Floating Vase (with a mixture of blue, pink, & white fake flowers)

Map hearts in a frame
I've never been big on having a bunch of heart-shaped objects in my room before, but I just LOVE this! Tis classy!

I really want to incorporate a framed quote somwhere. Lord knows I'll be needing some kind of motivation everyday considering I'll be taking a 5 credit physics course, anatomy, and 3 other classes….yikes!
THIS, with a light blue background in a frame. Well said...

Now you may see why I am overwhelming myself with ideas! But if I can just craft a few things up in the next week or two, I'll be good to go for move in :).

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas from your own rooms?!

xoxo,
Meg

The Bachelorette with a Southern Twist

So, a new show Sweet Home Alabama started last week on CMT. If you like shows like The Bachelorette/The Bachelor, I would highly recommend it! There's one girl with about 18 guys to chose from - half are city boys, half are country boys. Should get pretty interesting considering she is as southern as it gets! And if you refresh your blogger quite often, it starts rightttt NOW! (9 p.m.)

In the summertimeeee when the weather is high

Reasons why I love being home for the summer, despite living in a small town with practically nothing to do:

Iced coffee made in the comfort of my own home & coffee bonding time with Mom :)

Painting! I'll eventually post the finished product of what I'm working on now. Time consuming, but so relaxing.

Being able to go to my favorite chinese restaurant, which happens to be in my hometown. Oh!..and good fortunes!

Also, I'm obviously enjoying my new camera! Haha…I am such a nerd.

HP 7 Part II!

Tickets to midnight premiere of Harry Potter 7 Part II tonight…check! My goal was to finish reading the whole series this summer before the final movie came out, however I only made it to the 4th book. I fully intend to finish the series with the remainder of my summer, don't worry :). I think it's kind of cool how we really are literally the "Harry Potter generation." No doubt I'll be passing these books down to my kiddies!

Sorority + Transfers?

Hiii!

So, I am transferring to a new University this fall and will be a junior. I so so excited to meet new people and be at a school that I love, and I think joining a sorority would be a great way to make friends right off the bat. Plus, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to get involved in. I would do informal rush most likely, which would be in the fall. Since greek life is pretty big at this particular school, I know that I’d be hard to get into one in the regular formal rush and I don’t even know if they would let a junior rush then. Basically what panhellinic says about informal rush is that it is up to the sororities whether or not they want to participate in informal, and they will be given a list of names and basically choose who to ask to their house, I think? So pretty much, I’m at a disadvantage in that 1) I don’t really know any girls in greek life at this school and 2) since informal rush will be in the fall, I wouldn’t really have much time to get to know people to where they would be able to distinguish my name from a list of other girls rushing. Does anyone have any advice for me?…or have any of you dealt with informal rush in your sororities? Would it help if I had an alumni write a letter once I find out what sororities are participating in informal? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :)
So, I've been slacking on my posts a little bit and I have some ground to make up for! My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and half as of this past Sunday. After he asked me what I wanted for a year and a half gift, I insisted that he didn't need to get me anything. But of course, he had to spoil me a little more and get me something. He got me a Nikon D3100 camera, and I can't say that I'm complaining! I absolutely love it. A while back I told him I was starting to blog and whatnot a lot more and that it would be cool to take my own pictures for my blog. Well apparently, that thought stuck in his head! Haha (he is also really into photography…WAY WAY WAY better at it than I am at this point).

Anyways, I took it for a few test runs the past few days so I thought I'd share some pictures :)

Meet my boyfriend, best friend, and giver of my awesome new camera!

The image quality doesn't look great on here (I think I need to change a setting to make my colors a little more saturated to bring out the greens and blues). I took this in a field near my house... Oh, the joys of living in the country!
I thought this was kind of cool!

My little buddy, all tuckered out from swimming in the creek and taking a walk.

Like I said, the image quality looks a little weird when I inserted them on to my blog. Any other wanna-be-photographers out there?!

Warm weather, celebrating America, good food, summer clothes, fireworks - who doesn't love July 4th?!

Red, white, & blue themed food…check! These cupcakes are specifically from Sprinkles, which I was thankfully able to indulge in when I spent a week in Los Angeles for spring break. Literally the best cupcakes I have ever tried!

Stripes for everyone! Patriotic, yet nautical.
If only I could locate that hat, shorts, and bag before Monday...
Snap, crackle, pop!

Plans for Fourth of July are in action…finally!

Hallelujah!…I finally have plans for this weekend. I'll be going to Nashville/Vanderbilt where my boyfriend goes to school to stay for a couple of days. I'm SO excited. In the past when I have visited him, like during the school year, I have always had homework and stuff to worry about during the visits…but not this time thanks to summer! Granted that my boyfriend will probably have a little homework from his summer classes, the 6 and a half hour drive down there will be well worth it!
